Hiatus

Two reasons for hiatus:
- Creating second blog.
- The deep pit of self criticism is getting deeper the more I try to crawl out of it.

Cheer up! (korean drama)

Somehow this was bit of a normal school series but it still really got me hooked for the story or better to say its characters. The school where grades are important, school where rich kids with good parent backup can't get along with poor. The rich kids that don't seem to have problem in the world but actually suffer the most. The parents that push them to their limits, making their whole future plans that they have to follow even if that means they go to school only to learn and never have fun...

Story mainly focuses on two student clubs, dancing one with last 5% at the school and what to call this, studying club with top 5% at the school. Always arguing between one another. Then the dance club is cancelled by the oh great principal that is being bought off by rich parents etc. And until when the two clubs have to join together as a cheerleading club haha imagine that :D

Of course there are basic conflicts when you tell a rich smart kid to work out etc. :D Till now this seems like not that good of a story plot right? I know it is kinda typical but the main thing the drama wants to show is that 18yo kids should behave like 18 year olds, they should enjoy and have fun, have friends and not only competition when each can't wait for the other to fall... And it also shows that the smart students aren't happy either... because their lives are really tough because of their parents.

To point out only the main ones... Is it normal when a father beats his kid because his grades aren't good? Is it normal when a child is lonely? If the child doesn't see the way out and is constantly stressed and under pressure? It isn't...

Let me add a quote from the drama here:
"It was driving me crazy too. What was I supposed to do? What can we possibly do? So! We should do nothing. We don't breathe. We don't smile or cry. Let's stay quiet as if we are dead. The adults want us to do that."
It is nice to see how they learn how to be friends. Another quote that I found great:
"Pride? That seems to be the most important thing to you but for me, that friend is a lot more important."
Or this:
"We will teach you how to extend your hand to others."
It gets to be warmer towards the end when the kids mature and learn that their parent's words aren't the law. The main two parents are lovely all the time and when they have a talk like this, you feel like every parent should be like this:
"What's so hard about saying I'm sorry for everything until now or I believe in you? I've never said such things to him... so I'm sure he was startled."
"I'm sorry. Thank you. I love you. Even if you say just these three things to your kids, they grow up well. Say these things often to him from now on."
And let's have one last section xD
I just have to bias over Ji Soo (1993) because he portrayed the hurt kid so well... Beaten by dad when his grades dropped, even being suicidal and luckily had his childhood best friend beside him or he wouldn't have coped with it. He had similar character in Angry mom (series) and have to say I am fond of this kind of characters each and every time :D

Also got to say N (1990, leader in VIXX) is cute plus pretty good in acting. Portrayed a kid who can't stand human touch (certain reason for it). He was so awww as childhood friend of our lead girl xD
Also other cast was good, loved the teacher :3

Before I finish with one last quote I also add my favorite fanmade video from this drama :D Shows all the hurting just so prefectly :D

"We are told to pass up being happy today in order to become happy tomorrow. Don't believe that lie by adults. Don't forget that you will be happy tomorrow only if you are happy today."
END
