Hiatus

Two reasons for hiatus:
- Creating second blog.
- The deep pit of self criticism is getting deeper the more I try to crawl out of it.

Kiyoku Yawaku (Beyond the memories) japanese movie

This movie came to my list all of a sudden and with the typical way Anny does it, by following actor I liked in the past but let him stray to a sidetracks as many others. There comes the time when I remember them, one by one, and I decide to check what is new during my absence. This time it was Okada Masaki's turn with this movie which actually made me check the manga as well (although only 4 chapters are translated where he doesn't even appear yet *sulky*).

The story starts by showing four high schoolers who always hang out together. Kanna and Haruta are childhood friends while the other male and female joined the group later. Haruta was in love with her but she didn't realize it or even if she did, she didn't say anything about it. One day, she had the time alone with the other male and during that time Haruta had a car accident and passed away. The tragedy affected the other three, who slowly drifed apart and especially Kanna who blamed herself all the way till adulthood. Eight years later her life is still affected by the constant guilt and remorse, she doesn't evolve in romance, she is cold to men so they wouldn't get to like her. But she meets Roku (Okada :3) in a bar and later through work. She doesn't like him at all but she slowly gets to learn more about him, his own tragedy that doesn't allow him to live a normal life as well. Only he is perfectly able to understand how she feels, how it feels to feel guilty and you don't know how to repay it. The question is if the two of them can pass their tragedies and also the following quote: "After losing someone dear to them, can people still fall in love again?"

What I loved about it was the human side of it, the slice of life and how easily life can turn around and mark you forever. It has that warmth as well and beautiful sceneries, the colors fit to the themes and moments... all of it made me forget about the little "mistakes" of the movie. It is totally worth the watch.
